A Career in Learning Analytics: An Overview of Opportunities and Directions

A cluster of related fields – educational data mining, AI in education, learning analytics, and learning sciences – are increasingly represented in university programs. These learning experiences – open online courses, certificates, and more recently, masters programs – prepare learners for a world where digitization, data, and analytics shape research and teaching and learning in schools and universities. For those considering entering this field, questions readily arise regarding opportunities around employment: what does a learning analyst do all day? Who is hiring learning analytics graduates?
